New opportunity made in Italy involving NFTs, AR and Metaverse
Italian company OVR, famous for its NFT OVRLand with AR, today announced the OVR Land Scan: a system of incentives designed to involve its users in the creation of the world’s largest and most accurate 3D map of the metaverse.
Just by using their smartphone, each participant will be able to collect OVR tokens by scanning images of physical locations.
OVR Land Scan: how it works
With the aim of creating a broader bridge between the physical and digital worlds, taking the metaverse to ever more accurate levels, OVR Land Scan introduces a new opportunity to collect OVR tokens, in exchange for images of locations scanned using just a smartphone.
Following the success of last year, in which “treasure hunters” were able to collect OVR tokens by physically travelling to over a million locations, mapping over 300,000 square kilometres, the Italian company now wants to go into more detail.
Buyers of NFTs with OVRLand AR, have generated a map based on the “Wisdom of the Crowds”, with over 6 thousand investors voting with their wealth on the world’s most important locations.
Therefore, any OVR Land Scanner will be able to participate by scanning images of what they are looking for and collecting OVR tokens. To do this, they will need only a smartphone, without the need for lidar or other expensive hardware.
OVR tokens are subsidized directly by the company through OVRLand sales, but also by OVRLand owners who decide to make their NFTs even more valuable by adding 3D mapping. Not only that, institutions that take advantage of the OVR platform to populate the public utility layer of their territories also participate in incentives dedicated to OVR Land Scanners.
OVR Land Scan to support the OVR Land Map
OVR’s new “Map-to-Earn” was created to engage the crowd to support the OVR Land Map, the revolutionary technology that makes 3D maps of the real world more accurate and detailed.
In fact, the OVR Land Map enables geolocation of the OVR AR Metaverse beyond the current limits set by GPS, which has meters of error outdoors and is totally unreliable indoors.
Thanks to the OVR Land Map, each scanned OVR AR NFT will be able to achieve a location accuracy of up to 10 cm.
The CEO of OVR, Davide Cuttini, describes his idea of the AR metaverse as follows:
“When I imagine a world where reality and virtuality are fused, where thanks to small contact lenses I can’t distinguish real and unreal projections, the crowdsourced 3D world scanning is the fundamental brick to create an amazing new infrastructure. Without the complete understanding of the real world through AI models available from commodity devices, no AR platforms will see a real adoption. I think that OVR is in the right direction to democratize access to this amazing new way to live our lives!”.
The continuing evolution of the metaverse
The metaverse seems to have become the topic of the moment, where new AR experiences seem to play a key role.
So while in the traditional world, the global social networking giant Facebook has said it will soon turn into a metaverse, to the point of calling itself “Meta” from now on, in the blockchain sector OVR is already a reality.
In fact, the blockchain platform has created its own physical world metaverse consisting of valuable NFTs with AR, the famous OVRLands. Now, thanks to the OVR Land Scan opportunity, the new OVRLands will be able to create new unique AR experiences.
Geolocating assets indoors and on multiple floors, locating experiences on a specific wall or outdoor statue, precisely superimposing AR on existing buildings, are just a few of the new OVR Land Map experiences.
The OVR metaverse offers situations that were not technically possible until now, identifying in the physical world how “details can make a difference”.
