Why Thoughtful Gifting is More Important Than Ever This Year

This festive season, we are looking at holiday celebrations that are unlike any we have ever experienced before. The world is unrecognizable from what it was last year as the Covid-19 pandemic is keeping us apart from our loved ones and forcing annual celebrations online. But while all our usual traditions may be put on hold for now, one thing that we can put a whole lot more thought and effort into is our festive gifting.

We are all guilty of a panic-purchase when we realize we’ve left the holiday shopping to the last minute. But there’s nothing better than the reaction of a loved one when they open your gift that you’ve put thought and effort into. Not only this, but the holiday season is a time that often exacerbates depression and other mental health issues. Sustainable jewelry brand Always Coco aims to put the thought back into gifting while also aligning itself with the cause of bringing more awareness to mental health issues.

Why Thoughtful Gifting is More Important Than Ever This Year

Brand founder Courtney Newell established her business with the goal of encouraging people to think more ethically and sustainably when purchasing jewelry. She does this by creating simple and sustainable jewelry – one piece that can provide endless looks and suit multiple occasions. She says that her goal is to make a “footprint in the world of simplicity and simplified thoughts and do it through the topic of fashion.”

Along with this, a cause close to her heart is mental health advocacy, having suffered herself with anxiety since she was younger. Part of her creative mission is to simplify people’s style choices as a means to simplify other aspects of their life. The goal is to simplify your style. Empower your mind. “The biggest thing I have learned from this journey is that we don’t have to over complicate it all,” she says.

With every purchase of her jewelry, a portion goes toward the National Alliance on Mental Illness as part of her mission to bring awareness to mental health issues. This holiday season, a simple gift that is packed full of meaning, while also aligned with a cause, could mean the world to someone. “Sometimes our simplest pieces and moments can be the most beautiful,” she explains.

Each piece by Always Coco is designed with thought and meaning, like the Signature Pendant collection. This collection is inspired by growth and with each rotation you’ll see a different depiction of nature. The designs represent the changes and seasons we all go through during our lives. This allows people to feel more value from their jewelry, unlike cheap, mass-produced brands that usually only survive a few wears.

The pandemic has disrupted our lives beyond belief in the short space of less than a year, but we can still give gifts with meaning to show our nearest and dearest just how much we care at a time when they need it most. By making a purchase that also directly contributes to a mental health charity, Always Coco jewelry helps the people who most need it.
